Balancing Act

If you’re like me you know what I mean when I say that my forehead is an oil slick. For the longest time it seemed like I could do nothing to stop the shine from breaking through by lunchtime. That’s why I was delighted when I discovered Pur Minerals’s Balancing Act Oil Control Powder. You can use it alone as a powder foundation, or as a setting powder for a velvety matte finish. Simply buff it on and feel free to layer until you have reached the desired level of shine-free.

The Fountain of Youth

Things have been quite busy around here, which is why today’s post is short and sweet. Are you looking for a face cream that makes you feel like Cleopatra, but with the skin of a teenager? Look no further. Fresh’s Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream with Super 7 Complex is calling your name. The lusciously creamy formula not only hydrates and improves elasticity, it smells like heaven. Here’s what else you need to know, in the word’s of Fresh’s Co-Founder Lev Glazman:

“The lotus has been cultivated in eastern Asia for over 3,000 years. The plant is considered sacred in many cultures, but I especially love the way the Buddhists regard it. They believe that it is the ultimate symbol of complete purification, as it journeys through muddy waters to rise above the surface and blossom into a stunning flower. Various parts of the lotus have been used in traditional herbal medicine for centuries to treat a number of skin diseases, most often inflammation. After doing clinical tests, we were stunned at this ingredient’s high levels of polyphenols, the most powerful antioxidants known to defend against wrinkle-causing free radicals.”

So go ahead and indulge your senses. And don’t forget to enjoy the gorgeous packaging while you’re at it.

Springtime Beauty

Spring has arrived in full force! With it, I’ve made a few alterations to my daily beauty look. I wanted a natural, yet vibrant look with a lovely rosy blush. Here’s what I cam up with.

Throw Some Shade

Sunglasses are an iconic part of every woman’s wardrobe. They can take even the most basic outfit from drab to fab in an instant. From tortoise shell ray bans to gold rimmed aviators the right shades can elevate your look. For me, my go to sunglasses are a pair of black cat eye Kate Spade shades. While the pair I have aren’t available any longer, you can pop by any Kate Spade store and pick up the similar Kiersten Sunglasses. I find that they go with everything from my little black dress and pumps, to jeans and a basic tee shirt with chuck taylors. All in all they’re versatile, sophisticated, and make me feel like Audrey Hepburn. What more could I want from an accessory? And the case – how adorable!

A Magic Wand

Every girl needs some magic, especially on a less than stelar hair day. That’s why every woman keeps a curling wand on hand. My go to for soft lasting curls and French girl chic bedhead is the Remington T-Studio Ceramic Pearl Professional Curling Wand. Its pearl infused ceramic barrel leaves my hair soft and shiny. The fact that it heats up to 410 degrees ensures your style will last all day long, and the pale pink color ensures that your dressing table will look equally as beautiful. Simply wrap a one-inch section of hair around the wand, wait for 20-30 seconds and release. It so simple, you literally can’t mess it up.

L’Occitane En Provence

There is so much you can tell about a woman by her hands. You can tell if she’s stressed or relaxed or bored, if she grew up in ballet classes, or if she spends her free time writing in notebooks. Your hands tell the story of your life. Mine certainly do a lot of talking. There’s the scar on the top of my right hand from where I burned it on a iron getting ready for formal night on my first cruise. There’s the slightly crushed nail and bump on my middle finger from late nights journaling. There is even the fact that I hold my hands a certain way from years of ballet, and that I take the time to do my nails every week. All of these details tell a story about who I am.

There are a few things that your hands shouldn’t say. They shouldn’t disclose your age. They shouldn’t let people know that you spent your day slaving over laundry and dishes when you want to appear like you move through life effortlessly. They should explain only what you want them to show to the world. That’s why it’s so important to know exactly how to care for your hands.

The number one suggestion I can give about caring for your hands is to purchase and use a good hand cream. You should use it every time water or wind comes into contact with y our bare skin. My personal suggestion is L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream. It comes in a variety of sizes and scents and gives you silky smooth hands. I like to keep one in my bedroom, one in the bathroom, one in my purse, and one in my desk. That way I always have it on hand. So, what story do you want your hands to tell?
